These Terms govern your use of Tethered's website, accounts, matchmaking, date planning and related services. Your agreement is with Pennee Technologies, Inc. In these Terms, “Tethered”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the service operator. By creating an account or accepting these Terms, you agree to them. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
1Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 to participate in matchmaking and have the legal capacity to enter this agreement. An age-related hold does not allow access to adult matchmaking. Service availability depends on your city, eligibility, verification and account status. Joining a waitlist does not guarantee admission or a launch date.
Provide accurate information, use your own identity and keep relevant details current. You are responsible for protecting your login credentials and reporting suspected unauthorised access. You must not create accounts to impersonate others, evade restrictions or act on another person's behalf without permission.
We may request information reasonably necessary to confirm eligibility, identity or details you supply. Access may be restricted while a required check or review remains incomplete.
2What Tethered provides
Tethered facilitates introductions for adults seeking romantic partnership. Available features may include onboarding, dossiers, compatibility assessment, match decisions, Date Concierge, date arrangements, optional enhancements and safety tools. Features and availability may differ by city and account status.
We do not guarantee a particular number or frequency of matches, mutual interest, a confirmed date, compatibility or a relationship outcome, except for a specific commitment expressly included in your purchase or required by law. A member may decline an introduction or withdraw from further interaction. Any active-date or booking limits shown in the service apply.
Automated tools may help interpret information, prepare dossiers and assess compatibility. You should review your profile and request corrections where needed. Verification and background checks confirm supplied information within the scope of the check. They cannot establish everything about a person or guarantee their conduct or safety.
3Privacy and member information
Your first name and shared photo are the only identifying information we disclose to a match. Private sensitive information, verification evidence and mutual contacts are not revealed to other members. The Privacy Policy describes how information is otherwise processed to deliver the service.
Information received about another member is provided for the permitted introduction and related personal interaction. You must not publish, distribute, sell, scrape or misuse it. You must not expose another member's identity, share their dossier or private information without permission, or use information to harass, track, threaten or contact them after they have declined contact. Technical restrictions do not guarantee that another person cannot copy information they see.
4Member conduct
You must treat others respectfully, obtain consent for personal interactions and comply with applicable law. You must not engage in harassment, stalking, threats, violence, sexual misconduct, coercion, impersonation, fraud, financial solicitation or discriminatory abuse.
You must not submit deceptive profiles, false verification material or knowingly false reports. Do not upload unlawful content or another person's confidential information. Do not interfere with the service, bypass security, collect member information in bulk, manipulate payments or credits, or use Tethered for unauthorised commercial activity.
You control whether to meet someone and whether to continue an interaction. A paid fee, gift or sponsored purchase creates no entitlement to another person's attention, attendance, affection or consent.
5Prices and purchases
The applicable price, currency, selected items and total are shown before you confirm payment. Matching fees and optional enhancements are separate items. You are responsible for reviewing your order and authorising the displayed charge. Future price changes do not retrospectively change an existing confirmed purchase.
You may pay your own matching fee or sponsor another member's fee where offered. Sponsorship does not guarantee acceptance or a date. A verified payment and the relevant mutual decisions are required before paid planning features become available. Both members must meet the relevant requirements.
Paid interest is subject to the acceptance or validity period displayed in the service. The current paid-interest window is 14 days from payment confirmation. Expiry closes the relevant opportunity where mutual requirements have not been met. A payment received after the opportunity has expired does not reopen the match; eligible value is recorded as account credit.
6No refunds and account credits
All payments are non-refundable, except where applicable law requires otherwise. This applies to matching fees, postponement fees, verification charges where offered, and optional enhancements. Changing your mind, dissatisfaction with a match, lack of mutual interest, an unsuccessful date or a change in personal circumstances does not create a discretionary cash-refund right.
Where these Terms provide a remedy as credit, that remedy is Tethered account credit. Credits are applied against Tethered charges in the relevant currency, subject to the available balance and checkout confirmation. They cannot be withdrawn as cash or transferred to another member, except where required by law. A remaining balance must be paid using an available payment method.
Credits arising from a particular member's matching-fee coverage belong to that member, including where someone else originally sponsored the fee. A sponsor is not entitled to recover that credit from the beneficiary.
Deleting your account permanently forfeits all unused credits. You should use any available credits before requesting deletion. Account deletion does not create a refund, cash redemption or later reinstatement right, subject to mandatory law.
Duplicate, unauthorised or incorrectly processed charges can be reported through Help for investigation. Nothing in this section limits a mandatory right concerning a payment error, a service we fail to supply, or another statutory remedy. A legally required refund will be handled in the form required by law.
7Confirmed dates and postponements
Review the agreed date, time, location and selected services before confirmation. A proposal becomes binding for scheduling purposes only when confirmed through the service. Keep relevant availability current and notify us promptly if you cannot attend.
One postponement is permitted for a confirmed date through the supported process. A postponement made at least 24 hours before the scheduled start carries no additional postponement fee. A postponement made less than 24 hours before the scheduled start requires the initiating member to pay another matching fee at the price shown.
The late-postponement fee must be paid within 24 hours of the postponement request. Replacement planning remains unavailable until payment is confirmed. Failure to pay within that period closes the connection. A late payment does not reopen it and is handled as account credit where applicable.
An emergency claim is reviewed in context. Submitting a claim does not automatically waive a fee, extend a payment deadline or establish an exemption from attendance consequences.
8Cancellations and attendance
If you cancel a confirmed date, the other member receives their original settled matching fee as account credit. Your own original matching fee is retained. The same financial treatment applies after a no-show is confirmed, with the affected attending member receiving the credit. Each eligible fee is returned as credit only once, including a sponsored fee.
Where a counterproposal is rejected through the supported cancellation process, both original settled matching fees are returned as credits to their respective beneficiaries. That rejection does not carry violation points. A matching-fee credit does not create a cash refund or a separate entitlement to reimbursement for enhancements.
A no-show can be reported from 30 minutes after the scheduled start. The reported member has a 24-hour response period. A timely dispute goes to review. A report alone does not establish that a no-show occurred. Relevant emergency claims are also reviewed before consequences are finalised.
9Violation points and appeals
A confirmed cancellation carries 0.5 violation points. A confirmed no-show carries 1 point. Reaching 5 points results in removal of service access. Late-postponement conduct may be reviewed in context; any resulting finding and points are communicated through the account review process. No separate financial penalty is added merely because violation points are assigned.
You may submit a written appeal against a finding through the available account or Help process. Relevant new information and emergency circumstances may be considered. If a finding is reversed, its points are removed and access restrictions attributable to that finding are reconsidered. Other valid restrictions may remain. Reversal does not recreate an expired or cancelled match.
We may separately restrict or remove access where reasonably necessary to address serious misconduct, fraud, security risks, ineligibility or legal requirements. Such action does not depend on reaching the points threshold. Where appropriate and legally permitted, we provide the reason and a way to seek review.
10Safety features
Safety features may include designated contacts, check-ins, date-session controls and help requests. They depend on information you provide and on the availability of relevant devices, connectivity, communications and service operations. Adding a contact or recording a help request does not establish that anyone has received it or taken action.
Tethered does not promise continuous live monitoring, a particular response time, automatic emergency-service dispatch or guaranteed intervention. A missed check-in does not by itself guarantee escalation. If you are in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service directly and take reasonable steps to reach safety.
Verification, curated introductions and safety features cannot eliminate the risks of meeting another person. Report concerning behaviour and use your own judgement about meeting arrangements, transport and sharing private information.
11Venues and optional enhancements
Venues, transport operators and other fulfilment providers may impose reasonable rules disclosed for their services. Availability, timing and fulfilment can depend on those providers. Review the details shown before purchase and tell us promptly about an issue.
Purchasing an enhancement does not guarantee acceptance of an introduction or attendance. The no-refund policy applies subject to mandatory law. We remain responsible for obligations that applicable law places on us, including where an advertised service is not supplied. Additional provider terms do not remove those obligations.
If you move outside a supported area, update your city. Matchmaking may pause or move to a waitlist until service is available. Existing bookings should be addressed through the relevant cancellation or postponement process. Moving does not create a discretionary refund right, subject to applicable law.
12Your content and Tethered materials
You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant us permission to host, process, reproduce and adapt it only as reasonably necessary to operate and provide the service, including preparing dossiers and presenting permitted content to intended recipients. This permission is subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable consent requirements. It does not authorise public advertising use of your identity or photo without separate permission.
You confirm that you have the rights necessary to submit your content. We may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law. Tethered's branding, software, designs and other service materials remain the property of their respective owners. You receive a limited permission to use them through the service for personal use.
13Account closure and service changes
You may request account deletion using the available account controls. Deletion ends access and permanently forfeits unused credits as described above. Address active arrangements before deletion where possible. Relevant cancellation rules may still apply. Deletion does not erase an outstanding payment obligation or prevent lawful retention of necessary records.
We may change, suspend or discontinue features for operational, security or legal reasons. Material changes affecting an existing paid obligation remain subject to your contractual and statutory rights. We do not treat our own service discontinuation as your voluntary account deletion.
14Responsibility and limitations
We will provide the service with the care and skill required by applicable law. You remain responsible for your own conduct. We do not control another member's independent actions and cannot guarantee their statements, intentions or behaviour.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect business losses, lost profits or losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the agreement was made. We are not responsible for an event beyond our reasonable control where the law permits that limitation and we take the steps legally required of us.
Nothing excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. These Terms preserve mandatory consumer rights, data protection rights and remedies for our own legal obligations.
15Complaints and applicable law
Contact Help or the contact below with complaints about the service, charges or an account decision. Include enough information for us to identify the issue. We may request relevant evidence and will communicate the outcome of a review.
The mandatory consumer protections of your country or state of residence continue to apply where the law gives them effect. Nothing in these Terms requires arbitration, waives a legally protected court remedy or prevents a complaint to a competent regulator. Disputes may be brought before courts with jurisdiction under applicable law.
16Mandatory local rights
The no-refund, credit and forfeiture provisions apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law. A mandatory cancellation or refund right takes priority.
United Kingdom. Where the statutory cancellation rules for a distance service contract apply, you generally have 14 days after entering the contract to cancel. If you expressly request that service begins during that period, a lawful proportionate charge may apply to services supplied before cancellation. The cancellation right is lost on full performance only where the required request and acknowledgement have been obtained. Accepting these Terms alone does not waive that right. Any applicable cancellation instructions and form must be supplied with the relevant purchase.
New York. Where New York's social referral service law applies, statutory protections include a three-business-day cancellation right and additional rights concerning service delivery, membership holds and personal information. Any required consumer bill of rights, cancellation notice and transaction details form part of the relevant purchase documents. A legally required monetary refund cannot be replaced with account credit or forfeiture.
17Changes and contact
We may update these Terms. We will identify the effective date and provide notice of material changes where required. Changes do not retrospectively remove accrued rights or alter a confirmed price. Where law requires your agreement to a change, we will obtain it.
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive it.
